“Just returned from an incredible stay at Higher Pendeen Camping. We stayed with friends, both have young children and took the two pitches for tents. The set up was perfect with the communal areas for cooking and setting up the camp fire. It was very peaceful and safe for the kids to run around. Location was perfect, with a 15 minute walk to Mawgan Porth beach (stunning beach with restaurants serving lovely food). We were also a short drive from Macdonald’s Farm. This is a great stay for families. Liz was also brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend.” Stephanie – June 26

“We stayed at Higher Penden Campsite for a weekend getaway and it was absolutely magical. The campsite itself is a beautiful, tranquil spot surrounded by nature and so much wildlife — the perfect escape from busy life. Liz, the host, is truly lovely and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed peaceful sunrises, cosy campfires, and the comfiest bed imaginable! The location is also fantastic — ideal for exploring Cornwall, but with plenty to do just a short walk away, including the stunning Mawgan Porth. Couldn’t recommend this place more for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature.” Stella and Amy – Sept 25
“Small and quiet campsite with bell tents and fire pits. Comfortable, clean, simple, and walking distance to the beach and a shop. We enjoyed our 5-day stay very much.” Irina – August 25
“Absolutely stunning camp site. This year (2025) was the 4th time we have stayed there and will be returning in future! Liz and Mike are a fabulous couple, and really deserve the success they have with this little idyll. Beautiful site, immaculately clean, eco friendly, quiet, safe and thoroughly thought through and organised. Honestly, as camp sites go this one is hard to top! Ten minutes walk down to the beach and the lovely little selection of shops and eateries. Perfect!” Hayley – August 25
“We stayed at Higher Pendeen Camping with five children and absolutely loved it! The campsite is so quiet and peaceful, and yet it feels like there’s always something to do (check out the goats, pick blackberries…). The walk to the village/beach is lovely and the local shops/cafés have a lot to offer.
We made our way to Cornwall and the campsite by public transport, and (when things go according to plan) we’d say this is perfectly doable.
Throughout our stay, Liz and her family were fantastic, very easily approachable, and helped out whenever needed. Thank you so much – we’d love to come back in the future!” Hanna – August 25
“Gorgeous campsite in the most perfect location, only a short stroll into Mawgan Porth. We will definitely be visiting again!” Rebecca – August 25
“We have just returned from our second trip. We had an equally lovely time. The children and dogs just loved the site. Great wildlife, including a tawny owl. Fabulous views, clean facilities, and a great host, as ever, in Liz. I’m sure I’ll be adding to this again next year!” Hannah – August 25

“This is a truly peaceful and tranquil campsite that was a pleasure to stay at. As there were no camping spaces left, I stayed in a bell tent which was spacious and light with a lovely comfy double bed, highly recommended!. The walks through the fields to the beach are great and the compost toilet was as pleasant as any to use. Thank you Liz! Beach yoga with Billy and Lizzie from Mawgan Pause was amazing. Beautiful walks up and down the valley and the SWCP is easily accessible. Great view, Romantic, Quiet.” Simon – August 25

Location-wise you couldn’t ask for better, from amazing sunsets to a short walk to the beach. We’ll definitely be back!” Sam – July 25

“Just what was needed: a small eco campsite just far enough away from busy Mawgan Porth beach area but accessible by a lovely walk across meadow path. The bell tent was large comfortable well equipped and waterproof having arrived in a deluge!! Liz kindly came out in the rain to help us settle in! Loved the herb planter just near our tent and the added bench table solar lamps and firepit if req. 5 stars all round for a memorable break.” Kim – June 25
“I booked Higher Pendeen Camping as it’s perfectly located in the beautiful village of Mawgan Porth and conveniently on the South West Coast Path. The campsite owner Liz was incredibly helpful before arrival, providing me with lots of info about the local area and site. Going somewhere for the first time can be a little daunting, late at night and in the rain, but the app link was amazing at providing all the info I needed. The campsite is beautiful, the bell tents and facilities are spotless. Liz kindly organised a few supplies for me, locally sourced eggs, bacon and sausages which were all delicious. I would highly recommend this place and will be returning again.” Polly – June 25
“We have just returned from a 4 night stay and could have stayed longer. The location of the site is perfect, close to so many amazing beaches and towns. Liz, the owner of the site, was really welcoming and accommodating, and helpful with providing info on things to do. The campsite itself was great. We camped in one of the two pitches. The setting is really nice, with stunning views all around. Will definitely return and recommend.” Brad – June 25

She obviously cares for her guests and the land and is an incredible connection to the vibrant community.” Naima – July 24

“We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Higher Pendeen Camp Site. We took the two camping pitches between two families and stayed for 5 nights. The site is kept incredibly well by Liz who is a wonderful host, she makes rounds every morning to check that all is ok, and is available during the day if you need anything. She keeps the eco toilet and shower immaculate!
We loved the area, having been to Cornwall a few times we haven’t stayed at Mawgan Porth before but it was a hit with all of us from the beach to the food choices. The campsite is an easy walk to these.
I am sure we will be back! Thank you Liz.” Jo – August 24
“Fabulous campsite. Quiet, off grid, ‘back to nature’…. Exactly what we needed. The bell tent was very comfortable and held up well in gusts of wind up to 60mph. Lovely goats and horses on site. Blackberry foraging for the kids. Unbeatable location. We’ll be back next year! 🏕️ thanks to Liz, a wonderful host” Hannah – August 24
“Wonderfully peaceful campsite. Liz was incredibly welcoming and helpful during our stay and easy to chat to and you really do settle in quickly. Short walk to a gorgeous beach too!
Although we were a little worried about the one eco toilet and shower, it really wasn’t a hassle at all and infact we found the outdoor shower super refreshing!
Also my 11 year old really enjoyed being surrounded by nature, seeing the goats and got along with the other campers, the atmosphere really is lovely. And it’s a great base for going out and exploring further if you’d like. Definitely aiming to come back next year :D.” Katy – August 24
“We have now had two amazing family holidays at Higher Pendeen Camping and we will soon be booking again for next year. Such a fabulous small camp site, back to basics, surrounded by nature and animals and plenty to explore for little adventurers. Our children are 18 months and 4 years old, the campsite is perfectly safe for little ones with lots to do locally. Our children had the best time picking blackberries, watching the tractor work, walking over to the goats and horses, watching the sun set and looking up at the stars. Liz the owner is very welcoming and visits daily to ensure everything is OK and to find out what adventures we have planned for the day. We can’t recommend this campsite enough! Thank you.” Chris & Kelly – August 24

Liz is a consummate host always on hand to help where possible and offer advice about the local area. Thank you so much for the stay, I am sure we will be back!
The bell tent we stayed in was excellent – clean and tidy on arrival with camp beds ready for us. The bell tent came with a picnic bench, fire pit, wash bowl and water caddy.
Mawgan Porth Beach is the main draw with great surf and a massive tidal range.
Fifteen-minute walk across the fields to both Mawgan Porth for a superb surf beach and St Mawgan for a quaint country village. Great view, Quiet, Kid-friendly.” Dom – July 24

Liz was the site owner, who stopped by occasionally to help us with getting settled and anything we needed, so sweet! She’s really communicative which was so helpful when we got a little lost to find the place and was ready with anything like fire wood or questions on anything site related. Thank you so much. Definitely coming back. Great view, Quiet, Great value.” Margo – May 24

“Once again we had a fab stay at Higher Pendeen! It’s always a lovely welcome from Liz, friendly and easygoing. Being off-grid is so relaxing, even our grown-up grandchildren loved it ( that was a surprise!!) Enjoying the fire pit at the end of a busy day at the beach!
The location is fantastic and if you get up early enough, the sunrise is spectacular!” Angela – Sept 23
“We recently stayed for a couple of nights. Great location, short walk to a lovely beach, there’s also bars, shop & chippy plus public toilets near the beach. Our children had such a fabulous time, they enjoyed meeting new friends. You also have privacy & all families were lovely. I can also see this place as a lovely holiday for couples as well as families. Liz is an amazing host there if you need anything but also let’s you be so you feel you have freedom to look around. Fire pit was great I’d recommend getting logs from Liz. We also were only less than 20 minutes drive to Newquay so again great location. Our children preferred here than France. We hired bell tent it was nice & spacious plus comfortable. There’s nothing that needs improvement. Thanks again Liz for such a great stay x” Laura – August 23
“Absolutely gorgeous find! We have all been camping as friends for over 10 years now and have all voted this our best yet!! Fabulous location just a ten minute walk to the beach and great restaurants and bars. The campsite itself and bell tents are beautifully kept and the owner Liz and her son couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. Oh and the beds are sooo comfortable you forget you’re even camping!!! Thank you again Liz and family x” Sam – August 23
“Lovely few days at eco friendly campsite. Having not camped for years I was worried how I would find the experience of going totally off grid but it turns out I had nothing to worry about besides some unfortunate weather. Camp site has a stunning view and easy access to Mawgan Porth beach. Toilet is clean. The outdoor shower is fun! Fire pit and grill provided. Bell tents are a great size and clean, double bed very comfy. Liz (the campsite owner/manager) is a welcoming and helpful host. Our fellow campers were respectable and easy to get along with. Simple, no frills camping in lovely surroundings and an opportunity to reconnect with nature.” Lucy – July 23
“Lovely weekend. Took the option to use one of the Bell tents in situ as arriving late on the Friday. Great accommodation and a beautiful site. Everything clean and welcoming, Liz was a fantastic host as well. Beautiful spot, can’t rate highly enough” C Harris – July 23
“(Translated by Google) Very small campsite with three rental tents and two camping spots. The pitches are spacious and flat. Each pitch has a fire bowl/grill and a picnic table available. The compost toilet takes some getting used to, but it is doable. The shower is nice and warm. Waste is separated into different bins. The gate to enter the site is directly on the road (we drove past it first). Horses and goats are right next to the campsite. Nice view over the hills. Walking distance to the pub, small supermarket and beach. Very friendly owner.

Zeer vriendelijke eigenaresse.” Wanda – July 23
“Lovely pleasant surprise, nestled on a fascinating hill with thousands of years of history from flint tools, round houses, chapels and much more. Thank you Liz and Mike for being great hosts.” Jane and Pete – June 23
