Mawgan Porth and the surrounding local area are blessed with a wide range of popular gastronomy options to suit all palates and budgets. These are all pretty much in walking distance from us, from long-established independent eateries to pop up foods vans, all with a huge focus on local and seasonal produce, take your pick of our local eats and drinks and make sure to book in advance!
Mawgan Porth:

The Merrymoor Inn – overlooking the beach, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Merrymoor serves generous portions of great tasting traditional and contemporary meals, from breakfast to Sunday Roasts. Specials nights throughout the week are really popular.

Beach Box Mawgan Porth – right by the entrance to the beach car park, Beach Box is a takeaway offering a range of drinks and light bites such as healthy breakfast bowls, toasties, smoothies, cakes and gelatos.
Don’t miss – The fishfinger sandwich is a winner as is the range of delicious smoothies to set you up for the day!

The Scarlet Restaurant – Serving Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner with incredible views over the beach and beyond. The menus change often and service is impeccable.
Don’t miss – A candlelit, sumptuous Dinner service accompanied with Wine Flights, carefully chosen by the hotels’ sommelier to complement the seasonal and locally sourced menus is a must if you get the chance.

The Brunch Spot – New for 2024, located outside Mawgan Porth village hall, serving Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch. A fab and very reasonably priced selection of sandwiches, baguettes and toasties, perfect for a beach picnic! Check out their social media for days and opening times.
Don’t miss – The deep toasties are like a fondue! Pretty much all their offerings keep the locals coming back for more! Daily specials.

Blue Fish Bar – Serving lunch and evenings in season, conveniently a few steps off the beach. Traditional menu with skin on, double cooked chips for extra flavour.
Don’t miss – The homemade tartar sauce is something else and once tried you can’t do without it on your fish!

Catch – You can find this eatery literally opposite the beach. Catch specialises in freshly cooked seafood and coast inspired dishes. They offer breakfasts and brunches, perfect for coming off the beach from the dawn patrol, lunches and dinners.
Don’t miss – The Catch Fish and Seafood platter, fresh off the day boat with a wine, garlic and chilli stock.

Off the Path Coffee Co – Situated just off a Gold Footpath to St Mawgan village and just down the road from our campsite, Off the Path offers breakfasts, exciting brunches, hot and cold beverages and lunchtime specials both outside and under shelter.
Don’t miss – The menu changes frequently so check their social media to see the daily specials, but indulgent hot drinks and homemade cakes are a popular staple with both locals and visitors alike.

Buccas Kitchen: A diverse menu, from small plates to Sunday roasts, using seasonal, local, fresh ingredients and situated at the relaxed venue of Retorrick Mill.

The Bedruthan Steps Hotel – The hotel offers two restaurants: The Wild Cafe offers natural, nourishing cooking that leaves you knowing you’ve given your body something good. And the view through the large windows is really something, particularly at sunset. Open all day. Ogo is a more intimate setting, stunning views with a focus on seasonal veg, grown locally with sustainably caught fish & farmed meat in a picturesque dining experience. Wine flights are also available to compliment the menu.
Don’t miss – The Bedruthan offers various seasonal feast nights throughout the year. Great for groups.

Carnewas Tea Rooms – These charming tea rooms are conveniently set along the South West Coastal path and just the right distance for refreshment when walking from Mawgan Porth. You’ll be venturing into landscapes used for filming the wildly successful BBC Poldark series and of course you’ll be overlooking the breathtaking Bedruthan Steps.
Don’t miss – The Cream Teas are something else, with scones made daily to a family recipe and of course jam first!

The Halfway House is a short drive away and is the concept of chef Henk De Villiers, who’s a regular face at events such as Padstow Christmas Festival. Offering a range on the menu from local beer pairing to more traditional dishes with a gastro flair, there’s something for everyone.
Don’t miss – Their traditional Sunday Carvery is really delicious – wear an elasticated waistband!

St Mawgan:

The Falcon Inn – An absolute picture book setting, the historic Falcon Inn serves a modern pub menu to please all tastes and ages.
Don’t miss – The Moules and Frites with Rattler Cider sauce are just simply moreish, as is the Falcon Steak & Legend Ale Pie, Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Red Wine Gravy.

St Mawgan Tea Room – Another charming venue with both indoor and outdoor seating, the Tea Room offers light bites, sandwiches and cream teas. Along with many of the neighbouring eateries featured here, these historic buildings built for the Arundell family of Lanherne, are frequently filmed, in particular for the dramatisation of Rosamunde Pilcher novels.
Don’t miss – The Cornish Thunder and Lightning, clotted cream and golden syrup on a homemade scone is an indulgence everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime!

Hawkeys Cafe – Great value Breakfasts, light lunches, cakes and a whole menu of Cream Teas. Rogers Own Jams and Relishes compliment both sweet and savoury dishes.

Barnabys (one of our very favourites) has found their current home at the ever popular Trevibban Mill Vineyard. Small pates and wine tasting are just excellent bedfellows. Also try their sister restaurant, Prawn on the Lawn in Padstow.
The Lobster Box Ready to eat Seafood Feasts delivered directly to your tent. Handmade, hand-flavoured, small batch Seafood mealboxes.
Halwyn at Cubert offers a great menu combined with a driving range! Having diversified their farm, they have also started offering local farmers’ markets on-site too.
