Mawgan Porth and the surrounding local area are blessed with a wide range of popular gastronomy options to suit all palates and budgets. These are all pretty much in walking distance from us, from long-established independent eateries to pop up foods vans, all with a huge focus on local and seasonal produce, take your pick and make sure to book in advance!

Mawgan Porth:

The Merrymoor Inn, overlooking the beach.

The Merrymoor Inn – overlooking the beach, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Merrymoor serves generous portions of great tasting traditional and contemporary meals, from breakfast to Sunday Roasts. Specials nights throughout the week are really popular.

Don’t miss – Nicks’ Breakfast Baps can not be beaten and the Merrymoor Chicken is a must.

Beach Box Mawgan Porth – right by the entrance to the beach car park, Beach Box is a takeaway offering a range of drinks and light bites such as healthy breakfast bowls, toasties, smoothies, cakes and gelatos.

Don’t miss – The fishfinger sandwich is a winner as is the range of delicious smoothies to set you up for the day!

Innovative dining at the Scarlet Restaurant with awesome views.

The Scarlet Restaurant – Serving Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner with incredible views over the beach and beyond. The menus change often and service is impeccable.

Don’t miss – A candlelit, sumptuous Dinner service accompanied with Wine Flights, carefully chosen by the hotels’ sommelier to complement the seasonal and locally sourced menus is a must if you get the chance.

Traditional Fish and Chips at the Blue Fish Bar.

Blue Fish Bar – Serving lunch and evenings in season, conveniently a few steps off the beach. Traditional menu with skin on, double cooked chips for extra flavour.

Don’t miss – The homemade tartar sauce is something else and once tried you can’t do without it on your fish!

Soak up the Beach House atmosphere and menu at Catch.

Catch – You can find this eatery literally opposite the beach. Catch specialises in freshly cooked seafood and coast inspired dishes. They offer breakfasts and brunches, perfect for coming off the beach from the dawn patrol, lunches and dinners.

Don’t miss – The Catch Fish and Seafood platter, fresh off the day boat with a wine, garlic and chilli stock.

Great alfresco light bites and drinks at Off the Path Coffee Co.

Off the Path Coffee Co – Situated just off a Gold Footpath to St Mawgan village and just down the road from our campsite, Off the Path offers breakfasts, exciting brunches, hot and cold beverages and lunchtime specials both outside and under shelter.

Don’t miss – The menu changes frequently so check their social media to see the daily specials, but indulgent hot drinks and homemade cakes are a popular staple with both locals and visitors alike.

Contemporary dining with a super chilled atmosphere at the Kitchen By the Beach.

The Kitchen by the Beach: Conveniently situated overlooking our farm, contemporary yet unpretentious dining with a great range of hip cocktails, mocktails and hot beverage specials.

Don’t miss – Another local breakfast Mecca to set you up for the day using high-quality ingredients. The specials menu has some fab fusion ideas and the luxury hot chocolate is what you need right now!

With two restaurant options at the Bedruthan Hotel, both serving local and seasonal produce.

The Bedruthan Steps Hotel – The hotel offers two restaurants: The Wild Cafe offers informal dining, a contemporary menu and fresh, local produce. The Herring Restaurant is a more intimate setting, stunning views with a focus on seasonal and adventurous new dishes. Wine flights are also available to compliment the menu.

Don’t miss – The Bedruthan offers various seasonal feast nights throughout the year. Great for groups.

Not just a restaurant, but an experience at Woodfire at the Mill.

Gnarly Food: A local secret which is more of an experience than a restaurant, another short walk from our campsite. Eclectic and Bohemian, often accompanied by live music and atmosphere for days. A seasonal and globally inspired menu which is often decided on the day, with a focus on wood-fired food.

Don’t miss – This is a hard one as the menu is so unique – but when even the pizzas include Cornish Crab, Mustard, Creme Fraiche, Garlic and Samphire, you know you’ve arrived somewhere special.

Carnewas Tea Rooms serve traditional Cream Teas and Light Bites with breathtaking scenery of the North Cornwall Coast.

Carnewas Tea Rooms – These charming tea rooms are conveniently set along the South West Coastal path and just the right distance for refreshment when walking from Mawgan Porth. You’ll be venturing into landscapes used for filming the wildly successful BBC Poldark series and of course you’ll be overlooking the breathtaking Bedruthan Steps.

Don’t miss – The Cream Teas are something else, with scones made daily to a family recipe and of course jam first!

The Travellers Rest traditional Sunday Lunch is always popular.

The Travellers Rest – With a big focus on being family friendly, the Travellers serves quality, locally sourced pub classics and contemporary meals for both lunch and dinner. The Box and Barn in their beer garden also offers great woodfired pizza, ales and coffee and cakes.

Don’t miss – Their homemade pies are mouthwateringly good, as are the Sunday Roasts. Speciality Ciders feature from the Bearded Brewery, making any visit to Cornwall complete!

St Mawgan:

Locally sourced traditional and contemporary home cooked food at the Falcon Inn.

The Falcon Inn – An absolute picture book setting, the historic Falcon Inn serves a modern pub menu to please all tastes and ages.

Don’t miss – The Moules and Frites with Rattler Cider sauce are just simply moreish, as is the Falcon Steak & Legend Ale Pie, Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Red Wine Gravy.

Tempting Light Bites, Lunches and Cream Teas at St Mawgan Tea Room.

St Mawgan Tea Room – Another charming venue with both indoor and outdoor seating, the Tea Room offers light bites, sandwiches and cream teas. Along with many of the neighbouring eateries featured here, these historic buildings built for the Arundell family of Lanherne, are frequently filmed, in particular for the dramatisation of Rosamunde Pilcher novels.

Don’t miss – The Cornish Thunder and Lightning, clotted cream and golden syrup on a homemade scone is an indulgence everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime!

Hawkeys Cafe – Great value Breakfasts, light lunches, cakes and a whole menu of Cream Teas. Rogers Own Jams and Relishes compliment both sweet and savoury dishes.

Don’t miss – The Old English Cream Tea with local honey and a homemade lemon posset, simply divine.

The Smugglers Inn offers modern Pub food using fresh, local ingredients.

The Smugglers Inn – Contemporary pub food in more than generous portions using local and seasonal suppliers, ever-popular with both locals and visitors alike. Their hand-cut chips are off the chart!

Don’t miss – The Short Rib with homemade Mash, Seasonal Vegetables and a Red Wine Jus. The Burgers are pretty awesome also!

Throughout the year we are lucky enough to have various Pop-Up food providers, ranging from Wood Fired Pizza, Noodle Bars, ‘Posh’ Kebabs to Burrito Bars. Keep an eye on our Insta Stories as we are always the first to try them out!
